Bottega Vottega was born in 1959 in the rough neighborhoods of Las Venturas. Growing up, survival came before dreams. His father walked out when he was young, leaving Bottega to be raised by his hardworking mother. Money was always tight, and from an early age he learned what unpaid bills, overdue rent, and constant struggle looked like. Unlike many of the people around him, Bottega believed education was his way out. He stayed away from gangs, focused on school, and eventually earned a place in college. His goal was to become a lawyer. He admired the influence attorneys had and believed the profession would give him the stability, respect, and financial security he had never known. Life had other plans. As tuition costs and debt piled up, Bottega could no longer afford to stay in school. He dropped out and returned to the same streets he had spent years trying to escape. Not long after, a local militia-style gang noticed his intelligence and offered him work. They did not need another gunman. They wanted someone who could negotiate deals, solve problems, and keep their operations running smoothly. Bottega accepted. He began writing contracts under fake names, settling disputes between criminal groups, and advising members on how to stay out of trouble with law enforcement. Before long, everyone started calling him "the lawyer," even though he had never finished law school. For the first time in his life, he had money. He bought expensive suits, drove nice cars, and stopped worrying about paying rent. But every dollar came with a cost. The longer he stayed, the more he saw. Kidnappings, extortion, drug trafficking, and murder became part of his everyday life. Every legal trick he used to protect the gang only helped them hurt more people. Eventually, he decided he wanted out. The gang did not see it that way. When Bottega tried to leave, they kidnapped him and beat him so badly that it took weeks to recover. Before they let him go, they warned him that if he ever spoke to the police or tried to disappear, they would find him and anyone who helped him. He understood the message. There was no easy escape. Trying to move on, Bottega finally completed the qualifications needed to become a licensed attorney. But years spent around criminals had changed him. He became the kind of lawyer people feared. He accepted bribes, hid evidence, coached dishonest clients, manipulated witnesses, and used every loophole he could find. Winning mattered more than justice, and his reputation grew because he would defend almost anyone for the right price. Even that was not enough. The money and old connections pulled him back into crime. This time, he became involved in narcotics distribution while hiding behind his career as an attorney. It did not last. Federal investigators spent months building a case against him using surveillance, financial records, informants, and intercepted communications. When they finally arrested him, the evidence was overwhelming. The trial became one of the biggest stories in Los santos Court case The lawyer who had spent years defending criminals was now standing in court as the accused. He was convicted. His law license was permanently revoked. Most of his assets were seized, legal fees drained what remained of his savings, and his reputation was destroyed. Former friends disappeared, the legal community turned its back on him, and the gang he once worked for still considered him a liability. With nothing left, Bottega left Las Venturas behind. He arrived in Los Santos carrying little more than a suitcase, a few old clothes, and enough money to survive for a short time. Nobody there knew who he was or what he had done. For the first time in years, he had a chance to start over. Instead of chasing easy money, Bottega found honest work as a taxi driver. It was not the life he once dreamed of, but every dollar he earned was clean. Each day he drove students to school, workers to their jobs, tourists around the city, and elderly passengers to medical appointments. He helped stranded strangers without expecting anything in return and slowly earned a reputation as one of the friendliest taxi drivers in Los Santos. Most people only saw a polite driver with a calm voice and an old scar above his eyebrow. Very few knew the life he had left behind. Bottega has never claimed to be an innocent man. He knows some mistakes can never be undone and that some people will never forgive him. But every morning, when he starts the engine of his taxi, he makes himself the same promise. He cannot change his past. He can only make sure he never goes back to it. -
