The Man Himself

The Run Down

They say that every man has their own purpose, however, the problems with that are you hardly ever know if you're on the right track or if you're doing enough to accomplish your purpose at its fullest potential.  An average black male born on June 26, 1991, in a health clinic within Sussex, USA. Martin would often venture out his friends trying whatever the streets had to offer. Unfortunately, even though his friends were the closest thing to a family they would also be a significant influence in Dream's life choices. Both of his parents had died in a house fire. The heartbreaking cause for this was that whilst making love his parents left him unattended around some candles that were already lit.  Well, it's no surprise to say that things got a little too heated inside the building.  With a warm smile and their last bit of strength, Gloria Anderson and DeAndre Andrews passed their son over to the members of the Sussex Fire Department before the building collapsed, killing them both.

Keeping all this in mind Martin was moved to a foster home. At the age of five years old he was adopted by a kind old lady. She would later change his name from Martin Andrews to Martin Oakridge. Martin was never given a cold shoulder because she loved and treated him like her very own biological son. With whatever little she had Martin was allowed to go to a private high school. He excelled significantly within all his courses/subjects but this was where trouble would approach Martin. Raymond Banks and Charlotte Baines were the two only persons he considered as friends.  They would normally help him with his homework and assignments. Their bound was unbreakable well for now at least.  The problem came about in 7th grade where Baines started experimenting with drugs and running from school. Being a concerned friend Martin tried to help his friend but sadly, you can't help someone who does not want to help themselves. Martin learned that the hard way. She was charismatic and quite persuasive also. Before you know it Martin was caught up in a drug ring; smuggling drugs into his school all in the name of close friendship.

Raymond being the astute individual he is tried to help Martin out the situation he was in. The school counselor was notified about the incident and he would later contact the police. Baines was placed into a reform program whilst Martin was sent to boot camp. He worked so hard because his dream was to become a better person and make his dead parents proud. The facilitators at the boot camp gave Martin the nickname "Dream" because they could all the see that he was full of potential.  Martin was eventually given a second chance and graduated from college at the age of 19 with a diploma in Criminology and Criminal Psychology.  However, his silver lining had a storm behind it. Unpaid student loans to pay his tuition fees kept on pilling up and being employed was something Martin had no experience with. With his qualifications, he didn't know where to turn so he decided to use what little had to move to Los Santos. It's from there he'll find his true purpose in life or help to fulfill someone else's purse instead.
