Official Statement from Governor Candidate Chuck Clayton

 

The multiple attacks on Candidate Elliot Reynolds during his campaign speech today were deeply saddening and utterly disgraceful. I strongly condemn such heinous acts of violence that have no place in our society. Elections should be a time of democratic debate, not bloodshed and chaos. No candidate, no supporter, and no citizen should ever have to fear for their safety simply for participating in the electoral process.

However, what is even more disturbing than the attacks themselves is the sheer failure of our law enforcement agencies to maintain control. How was such an attack allowed to unfold? Where was the leadership? This is yet another example of the ongoing incompetence within our law enforcement leadership—a failure that endangers every single person in this state.

 

To Candidate Reynolds and those affected by today’s attacks, I extend my deepest sympathies. But let it be known: Violence and misinformation will not dictate the future of this state. The people of San Andreas will not be silenced, and I will fight to ensure that truth and democracy prevail.
