Another Rogue Fire Chief
On Monday, December 12th, Unrest ensued at the Los Santos Fire Department with the mass resignation of FD members. The firing of a protest leader was met with outrage from the rest of the department, with over 90% of the members filing a mass resignation in protest. Turns out all the protesters requested was better working conditions and equipment, and promotions to the deserving candidates. It has been noticed by the public that the Fire Chief Hannah Hoover was absent from her chair after being put in the position.
The previous fire chief, Roberto Makaveli had been removed and deported to Morocco for attempting to sabotage the department, and the current chief's actions have been seen as a continuation of this behavior. Members of the department demanded that the Congress act and investigate the matters surrounding chief Hannah.
In response to the questions regarding firing of the protest leader, Hoover threatened to wipe all patient records from the fire department website. This threat was met with even more backlash, and she was subsequently removed from her position. The protest leader has since been reinstated, and the old fire commissioner Gregory has been reinstated as the FD deputy chief. All this to the courtesy of IA head, Athena, who stood with the workers with their protest and helped create diplomatic negotiations, however all this was unappreciated by now Ex. chief, the result of which lead to her downfall, and acted as a last nail in the coffin.
The events of the past few days have highlighted the need for better leadership and accountability within the Fire Department. It was the dark day for FD and it was unclear how the department will move forward, but the members are determined to fight for the changes they believe are necessary to serve the community effectively.
